just a thought...

it seems the bush administration and republicans were locked in to their think tanks - the heritage foundation, the federalist society, etc. - and got their marching orders from them. the obama administration, on the other hand, seems to be flying free and would be much better served - we'd ALL be much better served - if it started getting advice from organizations FOR THE PUBLIC, like the rockridge institute or the center for american progress. democrats are too "freethinking" and never seem to lock in on platform or talking points. we'd advance democratic policy much more effectively if we consistently used the guidance of smart people instead of political hacks.
